Social media and instant messaging company Yubl had plans to integrate content and interaction options for brands on their app, and recruited Fluxus to build that into their system ahead of the official launch. Fluxus and Yubl worked together to create the Web Tool, a system for brands that included complex scheduling, publishing functions, and other content-related options.

Work on the project began with a workshop for both Fluxus and Yubl’s technology and product teams. This allowed both sides to fully understand the project’s goals, priorities, and any limitations. Both teams also composed lists of important features, which were to be implemented into the project structure, ordered by priority.

To best facilitate teamworking and an efficient workflow, the team of Fluxus developers worked in-house at Yubl, side-by-side with their teams. By augmenting the existing team, there were no conflicts on either side regarding the project’s vision, and it led to more responsiveness to shifting priorities and challenges. Rather than meet regularly to discuss progress, development proceeded with full collaboration, with Fluxus and Yubl team members able to freely discuss any new issues as they arose. Work followed a Lean delivery workflow called Focus, dedicated to delivering value quickly with attention to business goals – both the “how” and the “why”.

This focused approach to project management and teamworking, an initial version of the Web Tool delivered within a month. This allowed for a lot of fine-tuning before launch, and brands could also get on board ahead of time. This let them interact with users and be a part of the experience as soon as the app released.
