Social messaging startup Yubl wanted brand-to-consumer interaction on their platform to stand out by implementing strong interactive functionality. Contracting Fluxus as an enterprise CMS expert and consulting partner, the Web Tool was conceptualized. This was a brand-focused publishing system with rich content creation features.

The project began with a workshop for both teams to fully understand existing Yubl designs as well as goals and priorities moving forward. Both teams outlined lists of functions the finished product could have, with budgets, time frames, and overall vision all being weighed against each other to create the most optimized strategy. The workflow was designed to prioritize developing and finishing the most important of these functions first, and continuously deliver them. Some of these high-priority features were permissions controls, approval processes, post scheduling, multimedia upload options, composition tools, and others.

Fluxus led development in-house alongside the Yubl team, making use of a Lean delivery workflow called Focus. The core CMS was built with Drupal, integrated with a Jenkins build, and automating testing with with Jasmine and unit/BDD tests with PHPUnit. These helped minimize errors and downtime, and led to easier integration with live apps and backend systems.

With both teams working together, the Web Tool was finished in only a month, leaving plenty of time ahead of the app’s launch to present the finished product to brands and recruit them for the platform. This also left room for fine-tuning, allowing the app to release with as polished a version of the Web Tool as possible.
