RawPixel, a successful stock image license wholesaler, wanted to transform their model towards owning and operating their own image subscription platform. The goals for this transformation were to retain credit for and showcase their original work in a way that kept control over revenue a subscription-oriented marketplace. They turned to Fluxus to help undergo this transformation and build their new platform.

Having previously worked with a development team and an in-house developer to underwhelming results, Fluxus was contracted as both a technical authority and transformation expert, coming off of previous successful projects. Fluxus assembled a lightweight team of 3 and engaged in development by augmenting RawPixel’s own team with ours, which greatly improved the workflow. By workshopping the development process, both teams were able to satisfy the client’s vision with achievable targets, within the budget allotted.

To maintain RawPixel’s users throughout this pivot, the project took a three-phase framework, in which a preview site would be released first, further engagement options implemented second, and the final e-commerce launch third. In this way, current users could be made aware of RawPixel’s new activities, and new users could be attracted through the preview site being continuously marketed with a free image upload every day.

The preview site was able to go up after only 40 days of development, and the initial goal of 10,000 subscribers ahead of launch was far surpassed. Fluxus was retained by RawPixel to continue to work on the new platform and add new features.
