RawPixel is a stock image provider, who formerly sold image content to established sites like iStock. As the next stage of their business, they wanted to develop their own platform, and experience higher revenue and proper crediting for their own work.

Prior to engaging Fluxus for the project, RawPixel attempted to get their platform built in several ways, to unsatisfying results. The hired a development agency to work on the project, and later tried to hire their own full-time developer. When both of these didn’t work out as intended, they turned to Fluxus. With the understanding of what didn’t work for RawPixel in the past, Fluxus took the augmentation route, embedding a team of three within RawPixel’s own offices. This close collaboration aided in understanding internal needs and react to shifting business priorities.

Cooperating in a shared workspace allowed the teams to develop a plan for the build together, and settle on the best of both worlds between ambitious goals and a tight budget. It also allowed both teams to adopt a shared working method, and Agile was used to this end. It allowed the project to proceed faster, going live with an initial build after 40 days.

On Fluxus’s second engagement with the client, COVID-19 restrictions were in place, but teamworking and collaboration was able to take place regardless using online tools such as Slack and Trello, and building on the relationship that had already been built.
