RawPixel, a stock image provider who had seen success wholesaling to large providers such as Shutterstock, wanted to move into selling their work on their own platform. With the rising popularity of the subscription model, this platform would be a way to profit from and receive proper credit for their high-quality photos. They contracted Fluxus to help them achieve this.

To create this platform, Fluxus led development using AWS serverless technology using an Agile delivery process. These combined allowed targets to be comfortably met within both budget and schedule, due to the ability to easily plug in and test prototypes, and combine high-quality microservices in the AWS ecosystem. Features were workshopped between RawPixel and Fluxus in a way that would result in the best possible version of the website, without the project getting out of hand. Fluxus’s experience with similar media projects was able to guide the decision-making and allow goals to remain ambitious yet realistic.

To see through the vision in the most efficient way possible, collaboration between RawPixel and Fluxus took the form of a team augmentation, where Fluxus team members worked directly in RawPixel offices. This kept workflows consistent, and allowed both sides to shift in tandem to rising needs or issues. For the project’s timeline, Fluxus proposed a three-phase plan, which started with a preview site, followed by continuously-integrated engagement features, and finishing with the final fully-featured site. The initial version launched in just 40 days, and the full e-commerce release was a success, breaking initial subscription targets. RawPixel added more developers to their own through the process, and Fluxus was able to guide them through maintaining and continued work on the platform.
